Who are you, who planted hate
On our rich and tranquil ground
Tilled by our forefathers great
With their hands and sweat of toil
Now you come and you proclaim
In a provocative tone
That this land is yours to claim
To corrupt, infect and own
You said its the way to peace
If we'll just heed and follow
So you can plunder with ease
And hang us in your gallows
Gallows of your monarchy
And capitalistic ways
To secure your dynasty
With a vile and greedy face
Leaving us miserable
In a preposterous lead
So bitter, so terrible
That is why we must not heed
To sign the bargain of fools
Maybe, like tying a noose
On our necks to feed the ghouls
Whose desire for power rules
In the sign of crescent moon
You hide behind armaments
That speaks of pogrom, and soon
Harvest hate and arguments
The old scar incised again
Blood will run to it once more
To fertilize the soil when
Men think of others no more

...a poem that perfectly suits the current pressing issue on MOA and BJE... well done, gerald!
BRAVO! you got it flipt.,,
that is what im trying to point out in this poem flipt..
THe decades long war of Mindanao..
noW, they want to make of worse..
They want to see blood again...
this people...
hahay...we've had three bombing incidents here in iligan since yesterday... and now i won't get to see my crush tomorrow coz wala raw pasok! T_T
how's ur place?
really? tsk tsk..
unlike here.,
we are not war stricken,
because the hot spot., is in our province' boundaries..
they are afraid to enter, because people here will fight to the end...
they are just waiting for the signage actually,
if the MOA was signed, so they are legal to cross our boundaries...
but fighting is still going on...
take care... dont let them corrupt your place.
This was telling as well... so much was communicated... the world is at your feet.
haay...
this poem makes me think of my family it worries me much...
what will happen next...
our place is located in cotabato
kabacan specifically.
the failed signing of MOA. is a great relief for us..
but the declaration of war by our govt. probes fear and somewhat a declaration of relief for our kababayan back there in cotabato..
finally the govt troops will defend us...
May God bless the Filipino people.
its unconventional that the rebels are creating chaos to the civilians..
civilian casualties is inevetible even in armed conflicts...
what the MILF is doing now is Terrorism...
@ jo.. oh im flattered, thanks JO.
i feel the same for you
@XEgben
i really poured out my disgust here ben..
don't worry there ain't still any bad things happening here in our place.
i will write more poems bout this...
wheew..mindanao is the headlines of news on national television...
and do you know that in takepan pikit cotabato is where the farm of our uncle is located. their family evacuated in my aunt's residence thank God their safe, and their belonging secured.
we use to visit their during holidays...
but now with the current situation i dont think i wanna spend holiday n that place anymore...
Hey gerald, it's me eckosama. I know it's been a long time. I think I took a break from poetry. I was sucked dry from poetry b/c I wasn't sad anymore... but I think I'll post some more up later.
about ur poem, they don't say much about that in America, so can u tell me what's going on.. is it a war no one knows about?
there has been a 4 decade long land feud here in mindanao, philippines,
between, Christians and brother moslems...
war now has struck, because a group of Islamic liberation front wants to reclaim the lands in use of force..
now, the philippine government is using the situation for their self profit plan of charter change...
its really that complicated..
but war is in the air here ek..
we are like pawns here...
you own it dude. it was...
ive never been good with poems and lines, but i can say that this one (and your other pieces) is truly moving.
