Powder

Sand white as Boracay fine
lord of drunk, but not of wine
handed strip of silver foil
souls elevated from the soil

Buy and sell a market norm
a public place, the red-eyes storm
broken home has none to eat
just to but a heavens' heap

Bleeding nose for sniffing hard
a space-less nook within the yard
waste time gold the highest way
to buy and use it everyday

Superman for just a while
can run up to a thousand mile
a paid slut smiles for longer fuck
flies back home and breaks the lock

severity, the sandman calls
swinging knife on innocent halls
feeling not the warmth of blood
loved-ones fell a dying thud

one night,
on my way home.,
i saw three youths buying drugs (shabu) , as if they were like cigarettes..

i thought of their lives...
the grim probabilities.

i pity them so much....
where would they be a year from now?
they glanced at me acridly, and i walk pass through them

so when i was walking home., rung the bells and i wrote!

gerald, thanks so much for visiting my blog and for your nice comments.

In this poem you take on a real tragedy. It takes a lot of courage as a writer to face this kind of waste and loss. I hope to read more of your work in the future.

Have you visited readwritepoem.org? It's a writing community I contribute to, and you might like it. Hope to see your name there.

tis good. I haven't seen drugs before but I do pity drug users. A man came to my school to give a presentation on Meth and it was scary. He had been addicted before and had shot himself, but he survived and changed his life around. So, he went from school to school to tell his tale.

Sandman? Gaara?

i got my inspiration for a poem after reading this. here it is:

Aunt Nora

I start my life on leaves afar,
And wind up on the dashboard of a rich man’s car.
Very soon you’ll feel the power,
You’ll be superman for an hour.

You start to break up the little rocks,
With anticipation rising from your socks.
Carefully you roll up a dollar bill,
Fiendishly searching for the thrill.

Up your nose and in your brain,
I’ll help you forget all your pains.
I’m your friend, the little line,
Sit back, relax, you’ll be just fine.

More and more you can’t seem to stop,
Always reaching for the top.
Faster and faster your heart is beating,
Palms sweating, your body overheating.

When it’s over you’ll collapse in a heap,
Your body desperate to get to sleep.
But you aren’t so lucky this time,
You must pay for your crime.

I gave you what you sought, a sweet release,
Now you’re free to rest in peace.
Settle down, it’s almost over,
They’ll find you dead in your Range Rover.

I am sorry to burden you with this my friend,
But it’s time to embrace the blissful end.
I wish I could tell you it’s just a delusion,
But this is where you meet your conclusion.
